Mediapal International Hospital has discharged Gen Katumba Wamala with one bullet still stuck in his body to allow him attend burial of his slain daughter who took his bullets in the assassination attempt yesterday 01st June 2021.
A cloud of sorrow continues to hang around Katumba’s home who lost the mother to his wife and it’s reported he was heading for vigil by the time he nearly met his creator as assasins he called ‘Bad guys” sprayed bullets on his UPDF SUV along Kisota Road in Kisaasi.
The humble army general who served as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) before being appointed Chief of Defense forces (CDF) later Works Junior minister and Cabinet Minister recently survived with bullet injuries but he couldn’t hold back the tears when he arrived at his home to view the body of his daughter.
The attempt to assassinate Gen Katumba is one of those that have taken lives of many prominent politicians and Moslem clerics to mention a few like former Police Spokesperson AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, ASP Muhammad Kirumira, Arua Municipality legislator Ibrahim Abiriga among others.
The common thing in this is that assasins appear riding motor bikes covered with masks and the president continues to call them books as no serious police report has ever pointed out at the killers.
