As the country heads to the highly contested polls on Thursday this week, there is heavy deployment in Kampala and other major towns in a bid to maintain law and order and probably scaring voters as it has always been the case whenever the country goes to elections.
The election which came in the face of Covid-19 which has since been weaponized has seen security agencies battering opposition politicians and leaving NRM politicians move and campaign freely.
This video shows military vehicles being driven through downtown Kampala ahead of Thursday polls. The vehicles are used by the UPDF land forces that are commanded by Lt Gen Peter Elwelu #NTVNews #UGDecides2021

Eleven candidates are vying to lead the country for the next five years. These include NRM’s Yoweri Kaguta Museveni also Tibuhaburwa, NUP’s Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine, A.N.T’s Mugisha Muntu Greg, DP’s Norbert Mao, Independent Candidates John Katumba (Katumba Oyeee), Joseph Kabuleta Kiiza, Fred Mwesigye, Willy Mayambala and Nancy Kalembe who’s the only woman.
Despite heavy deployment across many parts of the country, internet has been slowed and switched off in some areas. Social media platforms Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter have been blocked and netizens are accessing them through Virtual Private Network (VPN).
Elections will be held on Thursday 14th this week and here at UTIMATE NEWS, we shall keep you updated.
